We are currently seeking someone who is eager to learn, committed to having a safe and healthy workplace and to ensuring the delivery of quality products for the position of Operations Assistant in our Stoney Creek, ON Branch. This position is responsible for supporting and coordinating the timely operations within the administration, operations, shipping and receiving department.

Responsibilities

  • All duties related to everyday Operations processes/controls in line with Russel Metals policies and procedures.
  • Working closely with Supervisors and Management within the facility, to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly goals are achieved.
  • Providing support within the company’s health and safety system
  • Provide solid backup for the branch in RMI Trucks with daily load schedules.
  • Provide solid backup for the branch in Receiving.
  • Provide solid backup for the LMS/BIS Training Platform.
  • Provide solid backup for production supervisory positions.

Job Requirements

  • Previous plant/operations experience in the Metals and/or Service Center Industry
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel and experience working with an ERP System.
  • Accuracy and attention to details are extremely important
  • Strong analytical, time management & organizational skills
  • Self-motivated team player
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Solid interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and build report with internal and external customers.

Preferable

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Certification Training in Health & Safety.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Experience working as a production supervisor in a manufacturing environment, considered an asset.
