Listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, Russel Metals is one of the largest metals distribution and processing companies in North America servicing customers primarily in Canada and the United States. The company conducts business in three metals distribution segments: metals service centers, energy products and steel distributors.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and results oriented individual for the position of Internal Auditor in our Mississauga (Corporate Office) location. The Internal Auditor is tasked with providing Senior Management, external auditors and the Board of Directors with an independent assessment of the internal control environment and the effectiveness of control procedures. This will be accomplished by executing the audit projects defined in the annual audit plan.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Perform scoping, data analytics and sampling for each audit.
  • Perform audit procedures including documenting auditee processes and procedures, reviewing and analyzing evidence, and identifying and defining issues.
  • Communicate the results of the audit to management in closing meetings and provide recommendations for any issues identified
  • Prepare working papers to support auditing results for Manager review. Ensure all coaching notes are cleared and issues documented in the audit software
  • Drafting of the audit report and presenting to the Manager and Director for review.
  • Conduct follow up testing to ensure recommendations were appropriately implemented and the issue corrected.
  • Related projects/work as assigned.
  • Qualified applicants must be legally entitled to reside in and work in Canada and travel to the US.

Education and Qualifications:

  • University degree specializing in accounting, finance.
  • Qualified/working towards a CPA or CIA designation.
  • At least 2 years internal or external audit experience.
  • Proficiency with the suite of Microsoft Office products.
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance in a team-orientated environment.
  • Solid interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and build report with all levels of the organization.
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Bilingual (French) is an asset.
  • ACL (or similar software) script writing ability is an asset .

Other:

  • Must be willing to travel (up to 35% of the time) within Canada and the United States.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance in a team-oriented environment is mandatory.
