A.J. Forsyth is currently hiring a Warehouse Supervisor for our Delta, BC warehouse. This is a full-time, permanent position. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the employees and production to ensure the warehouse is running safely and efficiently.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain positive employee and labor relations.
  • Manage employee performance to ensure compliance with company standards and within the scope of the collective agreement.
  • Ensure all outbound and inbound trucks are loaded / unloaded in a timely and efficient fashion while maximizing productivity.
  • Coordinate trucking schedule.
  • Ensure that materials are processed or picked (including packaged) in precisely the size and quantity that the customer expects.
  • Ensure inventory integrity is maintained.
  • Coordinate with all departments to ensure production standards and branch goals are achieved.
  • Ensure equipment uptime, productivity and accuracy is maximized.
  • Ensure a clean, safe and well-organized working environment is maintained and all operations are in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, quality standards and company policies.
  • Implementation and maintenance of the branch quality program.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure all employees work in compliance with OH&S acts, regulations and codes and the Russel Metals Corporate Safety policies and procedures.
  • Advise workers of potential and actual hazards.
  • Provide workers with written instructions as to the measures and procedures to be taken for protection of the worker.
  • Take every reasonable precaution in the circumstances for the protection of workers.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported, investigated and that recommendations for prevention are effective.
  • Ensure workplace inspections are conducted in accordance with legislation and policy and that equipment is maintained at a safe level and within legislative requirements and standards.
  • Ensure all employees are properly trained and qualified to perform their duties.
  • Ensure employees follow all safe work procedures and policies including using the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Assume a leadership role on the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee.
  • Work with the Regional Health & Safety Manager to ensure proper training materials are available and in developing return to work programs requiring temporary accommodation.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • MUST HAVE: 10 years’ experience operating and/or supervising brake machinery. 
  • Proven experience leading, supervising and directing employees in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated experience related to employee and workplace safety (hazard recognition/assessment and mitigation, accident investigation, safety rules and regulations, and equipment operations).
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word).
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. 
  • Effective oral / written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Metalware (including bar coding), Employment Standards Act, applicable transportation legislation, OH&S acts, ISO quality standards, company policies and inventory control procedures and reports.
  • Ability to work shifts as required.

Nice To Have:

  • General knowledge of all warehouse machines and equipment operations (e.g. overhead cranes, saws, plate processing).

Salary Range: $70000 - $85000
