Russel Metals Inc. is currently seeking an individual for the position of Buyer in our Edmonton. This is a full-time, permanent position that reports directly to the Branch Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
• Manage the inventory levels by product to satisfy future sales requirements while maintaining effective inventory control.
• Responsible for the complete and accurate preparation of all documentation pertaining to the purchase and/or revisions of inventory requirements.
• Work closely with Branch personnel to advise of changing market/supply situations and impending problems which may occur with incoming materials.
• Support Sales with outsourcing for material and be familiar with all relevant suppliers, their product ranges and capabilities.
• Conform to systems and standards in the ISO 9001 Quality Standards in accordance with the Branch Q.A. Manual.
• Assist with any other issues related to damaged goods, excess inventory, supplier claims and freight.
• Coordinate and negotiate incoming traffic requirements with reputable carriers at competitive rates.
• Update computer systems of suppliers’ lead times, pricing and inventory classifications.
Job Requirements:
• Effective negotiation and communication skills.
• Strong analytical, time management and organizational skills.
• Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Well developed problem solving and decision making abilities.
Preferable:
• Post-secondary education in the field of Purchasing/Marketing/Sales or Business Administration.
• Previous purchasing experience.
