We are currently seeking motivated individuals for the position of Plasma, Torch or Press Brake Operator within our Prince George, BC location. This is a full-time, permanent position that reports directly to the Plant Superintendent.
Please note - our work environment is safety sensitive and will require the successful applicant to undergo pre-employment testing.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe procedures are followed while performing job responsibilities
- Comply with workplace policies and procedures (operational and health and safety)
- Program, set up, and operate press brake while following safe work procedures and practices
- Read and interpret customer blueprints and lay out material for forming parts
- Form products within established tolerances and to customer specifications
- Complete in-process quality checks to ensure accuracy is within shop tolerance
- Ensure safe procedures are followed while performing job responsibilities
- Maintain an organized inventory and performs inventory counts as required
- Handle heavy material using overhead cranes, forklifts or other material handling equipment in a safe and responsible manner while loading/unloading the machine
- Perform daily preventative maintenance checks and report any unsafe processes or equipment
- Work with the Scheduling Department to ensure that daily production and on time requirements are met
- Any other tasks that may be assigned by management
Education and Skills Required:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- May be required to work rotating shifts
- Ability to read, write and understand English
- Ability to operate the overhead cranes and forklift
- Ability to perform setup of brakes in order to manufacture parts within the established tolerances of our customer order requirements.
- Proficient in performing mathematical calculations with ability to read a tape measure and calipers
- Self-motivated, results oriented
Starting Hourly Rate: $38.16/hr
Wage Progression:
- Hours 0 - 1038: 80% of Classification
- Hours 1039 - 2076: 90% of Classification
- Hours 2077 - 3114: 95% of Classification
- Hours over 3114: 100% of Classification
