Russel Metals is one of the largest metals distribution companies in North America, with a growing focus on value-added processing.  It carries on business in three segments: metals service centers, energy field stores and steel distributors.  Its network of metals service centers carries an extensive line of metal products in a wide range of sizes, shapes and specifications, including carbon hot rolled and cold finished steel, pipe and tubular products, stainless steel, aluminum and other non-ferrous specialty metals.  Its energy field stores carry a specialized product line focused on the needs of energy industry customers.  Its steel distributors operations act as master distributors selling steel in large volumes to other steel service centers and large equipment manufacturers mainly on an "as is" basis. 

Russel Metals is currently seeking an individual for the position of Contract Sales Administrator for our Halifax, NS location.

Reporting to the Regional Sales & Marketing Manager, the primary responsibility of this role is to coordinate and administer special projects and accounts. This includes maintaining and recording data on these projects and accounts, generating reports, and updating stakeholders on project statuses and delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Input order data in the database
  • Release orders according to delivery requirements
  • Provide shipping notices to customers
  • Coordinate Service Purchase Orders with third-party vendors
  • Verify Material Test Certificates for compliance with Purchase Order requirements
  • Record Country of Origin information for orders and generate periodic reports
  • Coordinate third-party material testing, including recertification to Lloyd’s, ABS, and DNV grades
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a customer service or administrative role; ideally within a sales or contract management environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is essential
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, customers, and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry, reporting, and verifying documents such as purchase orders, invoices, and material certificates.
  • Team-oriented with a high energy level
  • Customer service-focused attitude.

Additional Qualifications (Preferred):

  • A combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience
  • Experience in the metal or fabrication industry.
