Russel Metals Inc. is currently seeking an individual for the position of Saw Operator in our Ottawa, ON. This is a full-time, permanent position that reports directly to the Shift Supervisor. 

Please note - our work environment is safety sensitive and will require the successful applicant to undergo a pre-employment medical and drug evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete pre-inspection equipment reports before each shift including Saws /Cranes and or any other equipment used.
  • Perform all tasks safely and as directed.
  • Comply with all workplace policies including health and safety.
  • Be a team player and help fellow coworkers.
  • Perform all tasks in a professional respectful manner.
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned by management.
  • Participate in all company directed training.
  • Responsible for selecting the correct material (bar and tube products) to saw cut customer orders as required.
  • Organize work to consistently meet established production and quality targets.
  • Perform basic maintenance on the machine (changing blades, check for coolant levels, ensure chip brushes are in proper working condition).

Requirements:

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Ability to operate the overhead crane / forklift (training provided)
  • Proficient in performing mathematical calculations with ability to read a tape measure / caliper.
  • Must show initiative to learn new tasks and processes.
  • Must be adaptable to different working environments, and pace changes.
  • Requires attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • May be required to work rotating shifts.

Hourly Rate: $27.53 / hr

DAY SHIFT: Monday – Friday, 6:30 am - 2:30 pm
