We are currently seeking motivated individuals for the positions Brake Operator our Nisku, AB location. This is a full-time, permanent position that reports directly to the Plant Manager. Shift Work is required. This is a union position.

Please note - our work environment is safety sensitive and will require the successful applicant to undergo pre-employment testing.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe procedures are followed while performing job responsibilities
  • Comply with workplace policies and procedures (operational and health and safety)
  • Program, set up, and operate manual press brakes while following safe work procedures and practices
  • Read and interpret customer blueprints and lay out material for forming parts
  • Form products within established tolerances and to customer specifications
  • Complete in-process quality checks to ensure accuracy is within shop tolerance
  • Ensure safe procedures are followed while performing job responsibilities
  • Handle heavy material using overhead cranes, forklifts or other material handling equipment in a safe and responsible manner while loading/unloading the machine
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance checks and report any unsafe processes or equipment
  • Work with the Scheduling Department to ensure that daily production and on time requirements are met
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned by management

Education and Skills Required:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • May be required to work rotating shifts
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Ability to operate the overhead cranes and forklift
  • Proficient in performing mathematical calculations with ability to read a tape measure and calipers
  • Self-motivated, results oriented
  • 5 years of experience operating a large hydraulic press brake

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the steel industry.

Starting Hourly Rate: $36.71/hr
