Russel Metals is currently hiring a CNC Programmer/Estimator at our Puslinch, ON (Aberfoyle) Location.

This is a full-time, permanent job. Monday to Friday, daytime hours.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Compare material thickness; type and grade shown on sales orders to customer engineering drawings or CAD.
  • Compare part size and revision against costumer engineering drawings or CAD.
  • Prepare DXF or DWG files using AutoCAD or Sigma Nest when customers are unable to provide CAD files.
  • Contact Sales to resolve any issues or discrepancies between sale’s orders and customer engineering drawings.
  • Contact customers to resolve engineering issues whenever required.
  • Convert CAD files (DXF or DWG) into Sigma Nest native file format for nesting.
  • Combine different customer orders on material processing orders, pull sales orders from SIMTRANS, nest and generate “G” code for various machines ( Laser; plasma; plasma beveling, oxy cutting ) while making sure that the best material is utilized for the job in order to reduce scrap and optimize the cutting process.
  • Program forming for the press brake when required.
  • Generate flat layouts for cutting and forming using formed drawings when required.
  • Quote for various machines (Laser, plasma, plasma beveling, oxy burning and forming)
  • Assist the sales department in reviewing customer inquiries for quotation.
  • Assist CNC Operators to optimize productivity and quality.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Effective written and communication skills. Competent computer skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Able to read engineering drawings (Mechanical & Architectural).

Preferable:

  • Experience programming for various machines using Sigma Nest.
  • Experience preparing DXF and DWG files using AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge in MS Excel, MS Word, Metalware, and some “G” code knowledge.
