Russel Metals Inc. is currently seeking an individual for the position of CAD Tech (Programmer) in our Edmonton (Nisku), AB location. This is a full-time, permanent position that reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce parts and assembly drawings using AutoCAD.
• Nest and quote parts for tube laser, plasma, plasma bevel, oxy, drilling and saw.
• Maintain drawings through the revision change process and drawing control system
• Prepare time and material estimates for parts including material, labor and lead-time 
• Communicate with sales reps to resolve any issues or discrepancies between sales orders and customer drawings
• Focus on continuous improvement within an ISO 9001 environment
• Schedule processing orders per machine and communicate with sales and operations.
• Work under minimal supervision and understand the importance of producing quality work under strict deadlines.

Education and Skills Required:

• Prior experience estimating is an asset.
• Experience as a CAD Programmer in a manufacturing environment would be ideal.
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Familiar with metal processing and fabrication technologies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Experience with 3D modeling and nesting software
• Programming experience with multi axis machines
• Understanding of laser, plasma and saw cutting technology
• Experience within an ISO 9001 environment
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
