We are currently seeking a motivated individual for the position of Plasma Operator within our Prince George, BC location. This is a full-time, permanent position that reports directly to the Plant Superintendent. This is a union position.

Please note - our work environment is safety sensitive and will require the successful applicant to undergo pre-employment testing.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Cut and package steel parts as per customer specs
  • Inspect and measure all material to verify conformance to customer specifications using instruments such as tape measures, calipers and micrometers
  • Ensure that equipment is operating properly
  • Ensure all pre-shift inspections are completed
  • Operate overhead cranes & Forklifts
  • Perform weekly, monthly & annual maintenance on machines
  • Work efficiently and safely to ensure deadlines are met
  • Other various duties as required

Education and Skills Required:

  • Previous experience in a steel shop considered an asset, however we will train the right candidate
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Forklift & Overhead Crane experience an asset
  • Good knowledge of math and measurements
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret shop drawings and other documents such as safety rules and maintenance instructions
  • Self-Motivated & Customer Service driven
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Shift Hours: Training on Days initially, will be required to move to graveyard or afternoon shift depending on business requirements

Starting Hourly Rate: $30.53 / hour

Wage Progression:

  • Hours 0 - 1038:  80% of Classification
  • Hours 1039 - 2076: 90% of Classification
  • Hours 2077 - 3114: 95% of Classification
  • Hours over 3114: 100% of Classification ($38.16/hour)
